Julie Cook was born in 1961 and educated in North London. She has been employed as a nurse for more than 20 years and in 1996 she decided to take a career break to pursue an artistic direction. She discovered that her creative life and nursing background are inextricably linked, and each one feeds the other. Her BA Jewellery at Middlesex University encouraged her use of alternative materials in relation to the body. Since graduating in 2002 she has been exhibiting her work both nationally and internationally.
